SINGAPORE: The city-state marks its 51st year of independence on Tuesday (Aug 9) with the National Day Parade returning to Kallang for the first time in a decade.
About 55,000 spectators are expected to attend the parade, the first at the new Sports Hub.
With the theme "Building our Singapore of tomorrow", this year's show will involve about 3,000 performers in six acts and a grand finale. Among the highlights are a flying, glittering unicorn, as well as an indoor fireworks display. About 150 special needs volunteers will also take the stage, hand-signing the lyrics of familiar NDP tunes.
